Why partner with the Expo?

South-South cooperation is a broad framework for collaboration among countries of the South in the political, economic, social, cultural, environmental, and technical domains – an area containing vast, untapped economic potential.  The Global South-South Development (GSSD) Expo is a United Nations system-wide, high-profile event fostering both South-South cooperation and triangular cooperation that will be the catalyst for utilizing this economic opportunity. The Expo will provide economic, social, and political dividends in furtherance of the South-South cooperation mission. Hundreds of business leaders, entrepreneurs, mentors, politicians, and educators will gather to find viable solutions to many of the problems addressed by the UN Millennium Development Goals. The primary focus is showcasing, sharing, and scaling up concrete, tested Southern solutions. The profile of participants and delegates in the 2016 GSSD Expo will include four groups of champions and stakeholders: high-level policymakers, solution providers, solution seekers, and those seeking to scale-up solutions. Through intellectual dialogue and cooperation, the Expo will leverage the complementary strengths of all institutional partners to match supply with demand. Subjects being addressed include:

  • Health and population dynamics
  • Education
  • Gender equality and women’s empowerment
  • Energy
  • Economic Growth
  • Industrialization
  • Infrastructure
  • Poverty eradication
  • Food security and nutrition
  • Sustainable cities and human settlements

This Expo will be the beginning of many fruitful relationships between government, corporate and community leaders with far-ranging economic and social impacts. We look forward to partnership with a diverse group of international personalities that will lead to the shaping of future innovations in multiple arenas.
