South-South Global Assets and Technology Exchange Space

The South-South Global Assets and Technology Exchange (SS-GATE) is a virtual and physical platform where entrepreneurs in developing countries can interact and obtain needed technology, assets and finance in a secure environment. SS-GATE facilitates the realization of actual business transactions through a market mechanism, offering both online and offline beginning-to-end supporting services. It operates through a global network of participating organizations and institutional members. Participation in SS-GATE is regulated through institutional membership.

SS-GATE will introduce its global platform, its services and methodology, share successful cases and share ways that users can benefit from the system. The panel will include the CEO of SS-GATE who will introduce the system, and several institutional partners, including CTI-PFAN, ACTS, UN-OHRLLS, and WIPO Green will share successful cases of collaboration and results with SS-GATE.

The SS-GATE will support this year’s GSSD Expo with an innovative new service designed to match relevant partners together in order to scale-up and/or replicate the successful solutions being showcased at the Expo. SS-GATE staff will manage the matchmaking space which will be located in the Pavilion between Day 2 to Day 4 (29-31 October). The matchmaking space will offer the following activities and services for Expo participants:

1. Real-time Project Listing:Solution providers and seekers will be able to post their solutions (demand/ supply) onto the SS-GATE web-platform in real time.

2. Project Matchmaking: Providers/Seekers and other participants will have the opportunity to meet with potential stakeholders including financiers, private-sector entities, NGOs, and member states in a structured environment to explore partnerships and business deals. Meetings will be scheduled on site and will be organized into different thematic sessions.

3. Business Facilitation: Matched partners can utilize the space for mediated negotiations and signed deals.

4. Post-Expo Follow-up: SS-GATE will continue to provide its value-added services beyond the Expo to continue negotiations and/or project implementation.

Solution providers/seekers, private sector entities such as businesses/SMEs and financing partners are particularly encouraged to participate.

CEOs Round Table and SS GATE Introduction (lunch session)

Day 2 ( 12 noon - 3:00 p.m. )

A CEOs round table has been planned to serve as a catalyst in providing corporate leaders and government offi cials an environment to air concerns, develop viable solutions, and provide cross industry assistance between the public and private sector. The session will feature keynote remarks by the Governor of Nairobi County and the Director of the United Nations Offi ce for South-South Cooperation. Governor Excellency Evans Kidero will outline Nairobi’s “Master Plan” - highlighting specifi c projects that he would like to accomplish in infrastructure, transportation, and energy. An in depth Q&A with the Corporate Executives, potential investors, and Government Officials in attendance will be moderated by Mr. Richard Kessler
(President and CEO of Hamilton Advisors).

A rich program has been prepared with the view of introducing SS-GATE – its global platform, services, methodology, successful cases as well as ways through which users can benefi t from the system. This one-hour session will be weaved into the CEOs discussion and will feature presentations from the CEO of SS-GATE and several institutional partners, including Shanghai United Assets and Equity Exchange (SUAEE), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Climate Technology Initiative-Private Financing Advisory Network (CTI-PFAN), African Center for Technology Studies/East African Climate Innovation Network (ACTS/
EACIN).
