Nairobi Gathering Will Mark 30th Anniversary of Buenos Aires ‘Plan of Action’ on Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries
UNITED NATIONS. A high-level United Nations conference on South-South cooperation is to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 1-3 December, 2009, the General Assembly has decided.
All States of the United Nations system, as well as intergovernmental organizations with observer status with the United Nations General Assembly and United Nations specialized agencies and other entities of the United Nations system, have been invited by Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to participate in the Conference. SYRIAN ARAB REPUBLIC TO HOST SECOND SOUTH-SOUTH HIGH-LEVEL MEETING ON OIL AND GAS MANAGEMENT
New York. In response to the demand from a number of new oil-producing countries and the positive reception given the first South-South High-Level Meeting on Oil and Gas Management held in Doha, Qatar, from 8 to 11 September 2007, the Syrian Arab Republic will host the second South-South High-Level Meeting in Damascus from 8 to 11 June 2009. The Meeting will facilitate an exchange of experiences and lessons learned among established and emerging oil and gas producers/countries. It will bring together representatives from approximately 75 developing countries from Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. The Meeting is being organized jointly by the Government of Syria and the Special Unit for South-South Cooperation in UNDP.
